The Transition Training Academy (TTA) provides Information Technology (IT) training for United States Armed Services veterans who have been wounded in the global war on terror and who face unique challenges as they transition to civilian life.
The program helps participants explore IT:
The program uniquely focuses on specific IT skill sets from network design to introductory knowledge of software systems and support. Some of the most advanced level course work completed requires independent and group-level troubleshooting.
The administration of the program is unique as well. Facilitation of the curriculum can be effected online or in a classroom. This is an important facet considering the number and vastly different types of combat injuries students have. Classes are broken down into segments per day. Students work with and configure one router during course instruction. Graduates are recognized for their achievements by receipt of a laptop (which generally functions as a gateway for wounded warriors’ communication with friends and family back home while they are in the hospital).
The dynamics of the instructional materials, its presentation, material foundations, and applications have allowed TTA instructors to operate as developmental counselors. Instructors help one-on-one, in the classroom, and also become quite active in the communities formed by wounded warriors at the hospitals and online.
